A Big Kick Out of Scraptoberfest

Crop Table

Last week, I shared a few things I did to prepare for a day crop during Scraptoberfest.  I failed to mention that the crop was in support of raising money for St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound.  You can check out how they support families by providing cancer education, screening, and prevention programs at low or no-cost for the under insured and uninsured by clicking this link >>> St. Vincent's Medical Center.  Well, not only did my preparation pay off, I got a BIG kick out of the event…literally!

To start, I couldn't believe my sister-in-law and I beat my Mom to the event…if only by 10-12 minutes. She's the one who originally introduced us to this charitable event, as well as coordinated our party (over the years) of 16-20 women.  Ma is also the one who has the cool tools everyone is anxious to use.  While I didn't expect her to bring her new Cricut Explore, it was very generous of her to allow us to use her Cricut Expression 2.

Needless to say, I had a great time this year (again)!  While I'd love to share all of the details and laughs, etc. last week's post: Scraptober Fest, should give you an idea of what goes on.  For me, one of the highlights was winning, not only a great bag, but a die cutting machine.  YES!  I won a Sizzix BIG Kick as one of the grand prizes.  I am so excited to use this, but first I have to find a space to place it…is it time for a craft room makeover?! Hmmm…

By the way, if you look in the background, you'll notice one of the finished cards I made.  I am now making the card carrier for the card set and will share the results in another post in the very near future.  All in all, the event was for a great cause, with great company and great conversation!  In addition, the planning and set up of the entire event was done well.  I look forward to attending next year.

Do you have a Sizzix Big Kick?  Are you aware that it is the same exact machine as the Sizzix Big Shot, but a different color?  If you have any tips using it, please share…I'm so excited!!!
