In celebration of the New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo worlds of Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong and more came to life for us to enjoy. Here, in Tyson's Corner [VA], my family and I were invited to an exclusive VIP event to attend Nintendo's 3DS Be a Kid for a Day. With the new school year right around the corner, what an awesome way to bring our Summer to a close!!!
Already familiar with Nintendo's portable gaming system, the kid was so eager to immerse herself in the gaming experience of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. Our goody bag included great Nintendo games like Yoshi's Island, Yo-Kai, and Pokemon. With exclusive play and access to the new portable kid friendly gaming system, the kid enjoyed hours of play, discovering a new favorite game in the Yoshi's New Island. This game is a prequel to Super Mario World, where you guide Yoshi and a young Mario through all-new stages, from slippery slopes to watery wonderlands. It's one of many games available that I'm sure your young gamer would enjoy!
Our family has loved the experience of having a Nintendo handheld system. The great selection of games available, its portability, and the entertainment value it offers is pretty cool! Over the past couple of years, it has certainly been a game changer (no pun intended), especially during our long road trips.
This event was a great showcase for Nintendo and definitely fostered an atmosphere for us all to "Be a Kid for a Day." Desirae really enjoyed herself and I even had the chance to revisit one of the games I use to play [way back when]...Donkey Kong! And, we must not forget about Mario Kart?! I'd say, that's the one game I found that I didn't need assistance to play. Sidebar: For the kid, and many of the kids there, I was so impressed by how they just pick up the device and play any of the games with little to no instruction.
Overall, we had a great experience and such a fun time! An added bonus was meeting other local bloggers, one of which I'd already followed on social media. I think I made a few new friends!!! Oh yeah, we even had the chance to take a selfie using the custom Nintendo 3DS themed Snapchat filter!

Fun Fact: Mario's original name was "Jumpman." He was first seen in the video game Donkey Kong.
